Gothenburg Opera Withdraws Notice

The Gothenburg Opera is managing its major downsizing through natural departure and withdraws the notice of layoffs of 25 positions.

The notice was issued in May last year and came after an action plan was launched due to the tough economic situation, to save 50 million kronor between 2024-2027.

It is now clear that the goal will be achieved without layoffs, among other things through natural departure, voluntary redundancy offers, and fixed-term contracts that will not be renewed.

The total staff reduction will be 44 man-years by 2027, which corresponds to eight percent of the entire staff.

"It's a major joint effort that we've carried out together and it's naturally a great relief that we, as it looks today, will manage the staff reduction without layoffs", says Christina Björklund, CEO of the Gothenburg Opera, in a press release.
