German Inflation Falls Unexpectedly

The German consumer prices fell in January by 0.2 percent compared to December. This also lowered the inflation rate, the annual price increase rate, to 2.3 percent, down from an inflation rate of 2.6 percent in December, according to figures from Germany's statistical agency.

The economists had on average expected an unchanged inflation rate.
