High-ranking ministers from the three coalition parties in the German government will meet in the coming days to try to resolve the crisis that has arisen during the work on the state budget for next year.
Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (Social Democratic SPD) will meet with Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck (The Greens) and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (Liberal FDP) several times in the coming days. This will take place ahead of a meeting in the coalition committee on Wednesday.
The coalition parties have very different views on the proposal for the state budget for next year and on how to strengthen the economy. The two issues are likely to dominate the committee meeting on Wednesday.
Lindner wants to implement large cuts, while Habeck wants to increase expenditures.
