Lotta Tejle receives Dramaten's O'Neill scholarship for an acting art that is described as "touching, brave, plastic, brilliant, pedagogical, factual, and enchanting. Yes, simply genius!"
Just before his death in 1953, the American playwright Eugene O'Neill bequeathed his then unperformed play "Long Day's Journey into Night" to Dramaten, resulting in a memorial fund and an annual scholarship of 45,000 kronor to the theater's employees.
Lotta Tejle receives the scholarship the day before the premiere of Kristina Lugn's "Look, an Elk" which is about three middle-aged women. Tejle plays Stickan Ogebratt, who has just stopped adhering to the rules of the National Institute of Public Health. Tejle came to Dramaten for the first time in 2007 and became permanently employed in 2012. Previously, she had toured with the independent theater group Jordcirkus and performed in productions at Riksteatern and Uppsala City Theater.
For her role as Majlis in the TV series "30 Degrees in February", she was nominated for an international Emmy Award.
