Frida Karlsson took a break from competitions in Holmenkollen last week, with the plan that she would participate in the World Cup finals in Lahtis.

But now it is clear that she has not yet fully recovered from her successful performance in the World Championship recently, where Karlsson won the final 50 km event almost two weeks ago.

"Frida Karlsson is not quite ready for another 50 km event after Trondheim, so now the focus will be on rehabilitation and laying the foundation for the upcoming training period", says national team coach Stefan Thomson in a press release.

The program in Lahtis includes sprint (Friday), sprint relay (Saturday), and 50 km (Sunday).

Norwegian star Therese Johaug, who was without a gold medal in the World Championship, is expected to make her last World Cup start in the 50 km event. Without Karlsson on the starting line, the biggest Swedish hope is instead Ebba Andersson.

In the sprint events, triple World Championship gold medalist Jonna Sundling is still missing, who has skipped both Holmenkollen and Tallinn due to a cold.

"Jonna is feeling better but is not yet fully back for competition – instead, she is focusing on being back for the Swedish Championships in Kalix", says Stefan Thomson.

Sprint, freestyle, women: Maja Dahlqvist, Johanna Hagström, Moa Ilar, Moa Lundgren, Emma Ribom, Märta Rosenberg.

Men: Edvin Anger, Emil Danielsson, Anton Grahn, George Ersson, Johan Häggström, Måns Skoglund,

50 km, classical style, women: Ebba Andersson, Maja Dahlqvist, Moa Ilar, Emma Ribom, Märta Rosenberg, Sofia Henriksson.

Men: Edvin Anger, Gustaf Berglund, Jens Burman, Truls Gisselman, Leo Johansson, William Poromaa,

The teams for Saturday's sprint relay will be presented on Friday evening.
