The Basel-Mulhouse airport was evacuated for "security reasons" just before 12 pm on Friday. At 12:30 pm, the airport announced that it had reopened and that flights would resume gradually.
According to sources for the French radio channel France Bleu, it was a bomb threat. Last year, the airport was subjected to several bomb threats, resulting in the terminal being evacuated.
The airport is located in France, but near the Swiss border and has both French and Swiss customs control. In 2023, the airport had over eight million passengers.
