The former Prime Minister Alex Salmond in Scotland is dead, reports several media outlets. The Prime Minister is the political leader in Scotland and head of government for the Scottish government.
Salmond, who led a Scottish government for seven years until 2014, has been leading the efforts to get a majority of Scots to seek independence from the United Kingdom.
According to BBC, he fell ill after holding a speech in North Macedonia on Saturday. Salmond was 69 years old.
