A child of five years old has been run over by an electric scooter in Västerås. The rider of the scooter fled the scene of the accident.
An ambulance has taken care of the child. It is suspected to be a broken bone, says Mathias Rutegård, press spokesperson at the police.
An investigation with the crime classifications of reckless endangerment in traffic, causing bodily harm and grossly negligent departure from the scene of an accident has been initiated.
We could immediately establish that the person who rode the electric scooter was not present at the scene. However, the vehicle was left behind, says Mathias Rutegård.
It is not a rental scooter and we have still not caught up with the person who was riding it.
The alarm about the incident came in to the police just before 2 pm on Sunday.
