The American Grant Fisher set a new world record in the 5,000 meters indoors at a gala in Boston tonight.
Fisher finished with a time of 12:44.09, which is 5.51 seconds faster than the previous record from 2004 held by the Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele.
Last weekend, Fisher also set a world record indoors in the 3,000 meters with a time of 7:22.91 at a gala in New York. The 27-year-old took Olympic Games bronze in both the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters in Paris last year.
On Thursday, Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen also set a world record in the English mile (1,609 meters) at the indoor gala in Lievin, France, with a time of 3:45.14.
