There will be no future top-level meeting in Finland between the USA's Donald Trump and Russia's President Vladimir Putin, declares Finland's Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen (Saml), reports Yle.
Finland does not want to have anything to do with negotiations that could lead to part of Ukraine being handed over to Russia.
I completely rule out such talks being held in Helsinki, unless Russia shows a clear change of course and demonstrates a willingness to return to valuing and respecting international law, she says to the British The Times.
Valtonen adds that Finland currently has no political dialogue with Russia. "Trump's meeting with Putin in 2018 appears to be the last time Finland acts as a mediator between the world's nuclear powers", writes the newspaper.
The USA's former president and presidential candidate Donald Trump has previously said in an interview with NBC News that he could end the war in Ukraine "in 24 hours".
