Now it's decided: The Dance Museum on Drottninggatan in Stockholm is closing its doors for good.

The reason is economic problems due to rising costs in combination with a frozen state subsidy.

In order to save the operation, the Dance Museum has tried to collect ten million kronor by selling special matchboxes for 1,000 kronor each. Despite the campaign, the museum is still in need of money and is therefore forced to close.

While searching for new, cheaper premises, the museum's operation will instead make guest appearances at other locations, including Skansen.

The weekend of January 4-6 will be the last in the premises on Drottninggatan. Then the Dance Museum will be open with free admission.
