When the Nordic film industry gathered for a film policy meeting during the film festival in Gothenburg, the Minister of Culture instead held a press conference – about film policy – in Stockholm. Afterwards, she would visit Netflix before, later in the day, traveling to Gothenburg to open this year's film festival.
Among the "film industry elite", there was irritation over the Minister of Culture's priorities, writes Gothenburg Post.
It's completely insane. She seems to have no sense of dramaturgy at all. And that's what film is about. If she had had it – then she would have been here. It's important for Swedish film, says Ylva Gustafsson, regional developer for film and literature to the newspaper.
Even Mirja Wester, CEO of the Gothenburg Film Festival, questions the Minister of Culture's priorities.
I think it's clearly sad. It's the first time since the cultural policy summit started here in Gothenburg that the Minister of Culture is not present, she says.
