A pilot was killed when an F-18 fighter jet crashed in eastern Spain on Friday.
The pilot was the only one on board when the accident occurred at lunchtime near Peralejos in the province of Teruel, according to the Air Force on X.
The plane was on a training exercise with another F-18 plane and was flying at low altitude when something happened, according to the newspaper Heraldo de Aragón.
Images from the crash site showed how thick smoke rose from a forest area where the plane crashed.
