The French boxer Sarah Ourahmoune, who took Olympic Games silver in 2016, was one of the candidates to become chairman of the French Boxing Federation.
Now Ourahmoune chooses to withdraw her candidacy – this after she has been exposed to racism and sexism, writes the 42-year-old on Instagram.
"I have been exposed to racist and sexist attacks. My decision to drop out is costly for me, as it seemingly contradicts everything I fight against daily", she writes.
Ourahmoune has been vice chairman of the boxing federation since 2021 and the plan was to share the chairmanship with the current base Dominique Nato.
Sarah Ourahmoune won World Championship gold in 2008 in lightweight and retired after her Olympic Games silver in 2016 in flyweight.
