Eleven years in prison will be the sentence for the main person in a network that has conducted organized drug and weapons trafficking with Kristianstad municipality as its base.
This involves large quantities of drugs, primarily cocaine, and also the handling of automatic rifles and pistols, writes Kristianstad District Court in a press release.
Both weapons and drugs have been transported by the network to and from other locations in Sweden.
The criminal activity has been traced through an international police cooperation that has led to Swedish police receiving decrypted chats. Four more people are sentenced to prison for varying degrees of involvement.
The court has acquitted in certain parts. "But in the parts where it is beyond reasonable doubt that the defendants have done what the prosecutor has claimed, it is a matter of extremely serious crime, which deserves long prison sentences, especially for the leading individuals", says Judge Ulf Ahlström in the press release.
