New car sales remain sluggish. A total of 16,337 new private cars were registered in July. This represents a decrease of 5.6 percent compared to the same month last year, according to Mobility Sweden's monthly measurement.
Particularly, interest in electric cars is declining. Chargeable cars accounted for 59.6 percent and electric cars for 33.8 percent of new registrations in July. The same month last year, electric cars accounted for 37.5 percent of new registrations.
According to Mobility Sweden, corporate customers accounted for seven out of ten electric car registrations in July.
"The Swedish Central Bank has announced that it will lower the interest rate in the autumn, and it is an excellent opportunity for the government to allocate funds in the autumn budget for new effective incentives to stimulate electrification," says Emmi Antonsson, communications manager at Mobility Sweden, in a press release.
