A Swedish doctor is being investigated in several Nordic countries, including Sweden, for missing life-threatening tumors. The doctor, who has been reviewing X-ray images remotely, has had multiple full-time positions simultaneously and has received millions, reports Göteborgs-Posten.
The doctor has worked in parallel in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, and reported weekly working hours of up to 100 hours. In some cases, the doctor's analysis of X-ray images took only a few seconds, according to the newspaper.
Investigations conducted at the university hospital in Tromsø show that in twelve cases, the doctor made serious misjudgments. Five people died, but the hospital has not been able to establish a direct link to the misjudgments.
In December 2023, the doctor's license was temporarily revoked in Norway. Despite this, the doctor has been able to continue working in Denmark, employed through the Swedish staffing company Dedicare. The company is awaiting a response from the supervisory authorities.
The doctor himself does not want to comment at present, writes GP.
