A man was due to serve a prison sentence in Botkyrka, south of Stockholm. However, it came to a swift halt, reports Dagens Juridik.
The man was denied a place as it was already fully booked.
Now, the Prison and Probation Service and the prison, Asptuna, are facing criticism from the Parliamentary Ombudsman (JO) as they are not allowed to deny anyone from serving their sentence due to overcrowding or even overcapacity, according to the decision.
The Prison and Probation Service claims that a misunderstanding arose between officials.
