The Court of Appeal increases the sentence against a man who threatened Stockholm City's opposition councillor Jan Jönsson (The Liberals).

A 35-year-old man was convicted last spring for unlawful threats against the opposition councillor Jan Jönsson (L).

The man, according to the district court's verdict, "pinged" Jönsson in a post with a picture of a hanged person.

The threats came after Jönsson read fairy tales to children dressed as a drag queen last summer.

The district court assessed that the man threatened Jönsson in his role as an elected official and saw the threats as serious since they implied death threats.

The sentence was set to 40 day-fines. The sentence value also includes a threat directed at another person. The Court of Appeal follows the district court's line, but increases the sentence to 60 day-fines.
