The Svea Court of Appeal upholds the district court's prison sentence against a 27-year-old for the murder of a man in Uppsala in 2017. The man was 19 years old at the time of the crime. He is also convicted of preparation for murder in Bandhagen and of accessory to aggravated drug smuggling.
At the same time, the Court of Appeal changes the district court's verdict and acquits a 28-year-old co-defendant, who was sentenced to over nine years in prison in the district court.
"The Court of Appeal sentences one of the two defendants to 17 years in prison for the fatal shooting in Uppsala and for other crimes. The evidence against the other man is incriminating, but not sufficient for a guilty verdict," says Court of Appeal Judge Henrik Matz in a press release.
In May, the two leaders of the criminal gang Dödspatrullen were convicted in the district court for the murder of a man in his 40s in Uppsala in 2017.
The murder took place in the Boländerna district of Uppsala. Two masked individuals wearing white protective overalls arrived at the scene by car and shot the victim dead as he left a fast-food restaurant.
