Maria Arnholm, governor of Kronoberg County, has used the county administration's car for private journeys – such as to her summer cottage. Now, the County Administration of Kronoberg is appointing an external auditor in the case, the authority announces in a press release.
The decision comes after recent media reporting.
"In connection with this, we have discovered that there are parts of our regulations and routines that need to be clarified and improved," says Malin Almqvist, county councillor, in the press release.
Maria Arnholm's journeys have totalled around 200 miles according to the mileage logs – something that is reported to the Tax Agency and taxed as a benefit. Previously, it has also emerged that Arnholm has taken taxis for 82,000 kronor since 2020 and had the county administration pay.
Arnholm has been party secretary for the Liberals and Minister for Gender Equality in the Reinfeldt government.
