It is no longer possible to bet with the international betting giant Ladbrokes on Alexis Wright receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature this year.

The Australian author is also sailing up as one of the favorites with the betting company Betsson, writes Expressen.

Wright is relatively unknown in Sweden. The only thing published by her in Swedish is a contribution to an anthology published by the publisher Tranan 15 years ago. Yet, she is among the favorites.

The reason is probably that someone has placed a large bet that has been flagged by Ladbrokes. But if someone has inside information or is speculating, one doesn't really know, says Johannes Holmqvist, publisher at Tranan, to Expressen.

The speculations about who will be awarded the prize, which will be announced on Thursday, are in full swing. Among the favorites with the betting companies are the Chinese Can Xue, Wright's compatriot Gerald Murnane, and Haruki Murakami from Japan.

The Nobel Prize in Literature has over the years been surrounded by speculations about the winner being leaked in advance, and this year, no bets are being offered on the winner by the company Unibet.
