It is Harrison's widow Olivia Harrison who has compiled and curated the book "The third eye", which contains over 250 images from the years 1963–1969 – many of them never previously published.
"I want to show people, from George's unique photographic perspective during the early Beatles years, the moments when your entire life lies ahead of you with unforeseen possibilities", says Olivia Harrison in a statement from the publisher Random House.
The book contains essays by Olivia Harrison and the Irish novelist Colm Tóibín, as well as an epilogue by the American short story writer George Saunders.
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have also released photo books. Starr's "Photograph" was released in 2015 and in 2023 McCartney published "1964: Eyes of the storm".
