The United Kingdom has measured its coldest January night in 15 years. In Scottish Altnaharra, the temperature dropped to minus 18.7 degrees on Saturday night.
This is the coldest January night since 2010, when many places in the country measured two-digit minus degrees. Altnaharra then had minus 22.3 degrees.
The entire United Kingdom has had proper winter weather over the past few weeks. Among other things, Shap in western England had eleven minus degrees during the night and at Heathrow Airport, five degrees cold were measured.
The country's health authority has issued a warning about the cold, which can lead to an increase in the number of deaths, primarily among the elderly.
