It was the start of the European Championship final in Finland that stopped Lag Anna Hasselborg's hunt for her first championship medal since the bronze in the Peking Olympic Games 2022.
Sweden took a point in the fourth round, reducing the score to 1–3, but in the next round, Switzerland scored two more points, taking the lead 5–1.
It was tough to give up that easy two. If we had bounced back in the second round with a two, it would have been a completely different match, says skipper Anna Hasselborg in SVT's broadcast.
Sweden "did not bounce back". Instead, it was a loss with 4–8.
They played a good match. We really tried out there. They maybe had one or two mistakes, but we didn't take advantage of it, and that was the match.
The 35-year-old feels, however, that the team is heading in the right direction.
Our goal this week was to take a medal. I'm proud of that and feel that this is a sign that we're doing it right and that we're developing after two slow years, she says.
I love what I see from the team and think that we're building on something good.
