The Chinese AI company Deepseek claims to have been subjected to a "large-scale" cyberattack, which temporarily forces the company to limit the registration of new customers, reports CNBC.
However, already registered customers will still be able to log in and use the services as usual.
Deepseek's latest AI model, which has been described as at least as good as, for example, the chat robot Chat GPT, but at a significantly lower cost and with fewer advanced data chips, has received enormous attention.
This has led to a chill on Western stock exchanges in the wake of the entire American technology sector's technological lead being questioned.
