Russia's Central Bank Cuts Key Interest Rate to 18 Percent

Russia's central bank lowers the interest rate by two percentage points to 18 percent.

The message was in line with expectations on the market, as inflation has been dampened and concern is growing that growth will be so weak that it will become a recession – with shrinking Russian GDP.

In June, the Russian central bank lowered the interest rate by 1 percentage point, the first interest rate cut since 2022.
