Nato should not "provoke a confrontation" with China due to the country's relationship with Russia, says a spokesperson for Beijing's EU envoy in a statement on Thursday.
The statement comes after Nato presented its declaration at the ongoing summit in Washington, where China is mentioned in critical terms.
The defense alliance writes, among other things, that the partnership with Moscow is a reason for "deep concern".
According to the statement from Beijing, Nato should "stop fueling the so-called China threat and provoking confrontation and rivalry." Nato should, according to China, instead do more to contribute to world peace and stability.
China claims to be neutral regarding Russia's war of invasion in Ukraine. However, the two countries' strategic cooperation has deepened since the invasion. Recent reports have emerged that Chinese and Russian companies have manufactured a type of attack drone that can be used against Ukraine.
