The battle for the OS bronze in freestyle continues. Now, the American gymnast Jordan Chiles, who finished fifth in the final in Paris last month, has asked the Swiss Supreme Court to take on the case.
After the final on August 6, Chiles' coach managed to get the jury to reevaluate the American's points, whereupon she was moved up to the bronze position. The Romanian Gymnastics Federation responded by appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas), which awarded the bronze back to the Romanian Ana Barbosu, citing that the American protest had been submitted too late.
Jordan Chiles' last chance is therefore to take it all the way to the Swiss Supreme Court, and with the backing of the US Olympic Committee and the country's gymnastics federation, an appeal was submitted on Monday.
