The Chancellor of Justice, JO, criticizes the police after a police station in Uppsala refused a woman's request to file a report of serious violation of a woman's integrity. Instead, she was referred to return later in the day when the reporting reception was open.
"It is unsatisfactory that the opportunity to file a crime report at an open police station is limited to a certain time of day", says the Chancellor of Justice Per Lennebrant in a press release.
The JO notes that according to the Uppsala police's own routine description, the crime was of such a nature that they should have received her report immediately.
"There is a risk that inadequate accessibility of this kind damages the public's confidence in the Police Authority and can reduce the willingness to report crimes", says Per Lennebrant.
