"Currently, I am inclined to support a lowering of the interest rate at our December meeting. But that decision will depend on whether the statistics we receive before then surprise positively and change my prognosis for the inflation path", he says in a prepared statement at a conference in Washington, reports Bloomberg.
He also points out that figures from the recent period may indicate that inflation has settled at a level above the two-percent target, but that it can also go down.
The Fed started lowering the interest rate in September. At the meeting on November 6-7, a decision was made to lower it by 0.25 percentage points, to the interval 4.50-4.75 percent.
