The Swedish hotel industry experienced an upswing in July compared to the same period the previous year. The number of sold hotel rooms increased by 3 percent, at the same time as hotel room prices on average decreased by 0.5 percent.

However, total hotel revenues increased by 3 percent, according to new monthly statistics from the industry organization Visita.

”The booking situation looks weakly positive for the next three months. Households' view of both their current and future economic situation improved during July, but it remains to be seen if it will have an impact on actual consumption increases and if it is the beginning of an improved trend”, says Thomas Jakobsson, chief economist at Visita in a press release.
