Leif Kronlund formed his orchestra as a teenager in 1946 and it is still touring.
"A legend with a life's work that has no counterpart in Swedish music life and that has meant so incredibly much for generations of Swedes for nearly eight decades. We will continue to carry on this unique musical heritage. Rest in peace Leif and thank you for everything", the orchestra members write on Facebook.
Leif Kronlund's orchestra was a concept for dance-loving Swedes since the 1950s and toured frequently in the folk parks. The heyday was during the 1970s and 80s with the nightclub King Creole in Stockholm as a kind of home scene.
Lasse Lönndahl, Jan Malmsjö, and Ann-Louise Hanson are among the singers who have performed in various shows with the orchestra.
Combined with this, Kronlund also played abroad frequently, including in metropolises such as Paris, Gstaad, and Monte Carlo. The orchestra also got to perform after dinner at the Nobel Banquet.
Leif Kronlund passed away on March 1.
