Carlsberg's share price falls sharply on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange on Friday after a bid for British Britvic was rejected. Just before 10 am, the Danish company had fallen by over 9 per cent.
The bid corresponds to a valuation of Britvic of 27.4 billion Danish kroner, i.e. over 41 billion Swedish kroner, reports the newspaper Børsen.
On Thursday, the company's market capitalisation was 33 billion Swedish kroner. However, Britvic considers the bid amount too low and says no.
If a new bid is to be made, it must be submitted by 19 July at the latest, writes Carlsberg in a press release.
For Britvic, which had a turnover of over 22 billion Swedish kroner last year, the news was a significant boost on the London Stock Exchange on Friday. The company produces, among other things, international soft drinks such as Pepsi, 7UP and Mountain Dew.
