Canada is filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) about the US tariffs on Canadian goods.
The Canadian government believes that the tariffs constitute "a breach of trade commitments that the US has undertaken", according to a government official. Canada is referring to an agreement between the US, Canada, and Mexico that Donald Trump himself signed during his first presidential term in 2018.
We will of course seek a legal review of the agreements that we believe we have with the US, said the unnamed government official.
