Diamond fever on the stock exchange – Lucara skyrocketed

The Stockholm stock exchange rose across the board on Thursday. The OMXS index increased by 0.7 percent. Among the winners was Lucara Diamond, which surged after the company found one of the world's largest diamonds.

In the broad upswing, 26 of the 30 most traded shares in the OMXS30 index rose.

Among the OMXS30 winners were the medical technology company Getinge, up 4.0 percent, and the real estate company SBB, which rose 2.1 percent.

Truck manufacturer AB Volvo went up 0.6 percent following the news of a large order for trucks from the Danish logistics company DSV.

Outside the heavyweight list, Ratos fell 1.3 percent after the garden chain Plantagen, a company in Ratos' portfolio, applied for reconstruction.

Diamond company Lucara Diamond simultaneously surged upwards by nearly 45 percent, which means a gain of around 24 percent for the share since the turn of the year, following the news of the diamond find.

The development on the leading European stock exchanges was mixed.

The Stockholm Stock Exchange's OMXS index has risen 8.7 percent since the turn of the year with Thursday's price increase.
