A reunion of BTS is getting closer.

Now, Jin, as the first member of the K-pop group, has completed his military service and been discharged.

To celebrate, he will hug 1,000 fans.

On Wednesday, Jin was able to do his final honours and leave his regiment in Yeoncheon, South Korea. The 31-year-old was the first in BTS to enlist in the military, in December 2022, and thus becomes the first to complete his mandatory military service.

Fans had gathered outside the military base near the border with North Korea, waiting to catch a glimpse of their idol. Several band members had been given permission and received Jin when he was discharged from the military.

Even more will get to meet Jin on Thursday. Then, a large event will be held in the capital Seoul, where the boy band idol will meet his fans and perform, with songs that the audience wants to hear.

In anticipation of the event, a large lottery has been arranged, and 1,000 fans have won the first prize – a hug from Jin, writes BBC.

Thank you so much for waiting for me. I love you. I will try to express my feelings tomorrow, says Jin in a video clip that has been released.

BTS shocked their fans all over the world two years ago when the seven members agreed to do their military service and thus take a break in their career that has made them one of the world's largest boy bands.

Almost all South Korean men are forced to do military service for at least 18 months – even international pop stars.

The others in the group have also enlisted in the military, but several have released music as solo artists over the past year. BTS has announced that the group can reunite for the first time in 2025 when everyone has done their duty.
