When Detroit equalized the thrilling match with just over a second left of overtime, Spoelstra called a time out – but Miami had no time out left to take. The consequence was a technical foul for the veteran coach and free throws for Detroit.

A match-deciding brain fade.

There is no excuse for it, says Spoelstra afterwards.

I've been doing this for 17 years and we talked about it in the chat before, I knew we didn't have any time out left. I just let my emotions control me and reacted without thinking, I made a terrible mistake there in the end.

The match was part of the NBA basketball playoffs. Swedish rookie Pelle Larsson played 13 minutes but only managed to score one of his five two-point attempts.

In Detroit, Bobi Klintman, the league's second new Swedish player who has started the season injured, remained outside the squad.
