The court thereby confirms the Data Protection Authority's penalty fee.
The background, according to the court, is that companies within the Bonnier group have collected personal data from customers and website visitors and used this to create personalized targeted marketing and "extensive profiling".
Bonnier News has in turn stated that the processing of personal data was based on a balancing of interests, where the company's interests were considered to outweigh the interests of the registered individuals in protecting their personal data.
The Administrative Court, however, establishes that the individuals' integrity interest takes precedence.
"The profiling therefore required consent and has thus taken place in breach of the Data Protection Regulation", says Judge Karin Königsson in a press release.
