Austrian fans are being investigated after singing a racist chant at a fan gathering, confirms German police to the news agency DPA according to Bild.
It was when the Swiss channel SRF filmed a segment at an Austrian fan gathering that the chant was caught.
Several fans sang along to the song "L'Amour Toujour" from 1999, but some people replaced the lyrics with "ausländer raus", in Swedish "foreigners out".
The replaced lyrics have been circulating since November after German right-wing extremist groups remade the song. This led to the song being banned at several German events and by Uefa during the European Championship.
The song has also gained attention in Sweden since the Sweden Democrats' member of parliament David Lång sang it during the party's election watch in connection with the EU election.
Austria has been eliminated from the European Championship after losing to Turkey in the round of 16.
