An attack on a police station in the German city of Linz is being investigated by prosecutors as it may have Islamist connections.
The act was carried out by a man in his 30s who entered a police station, armed with a machete, according to the police. Once inside the station, the man threatened to kill the staff. The station was, however, locked both in towards the staff areas and out towards the street, so the perpetrator could neither get in nor out. He was arrested by a special task force.
Prosecutors in Koblenz are investigating whether the crime was motivated by extremist movements since the perpetrator is said to have had a flag with the terrorist organization IS's symbol at home, reports the media company SWR in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
