Three rockets were fired at a base with American soldiers at Baghdad airport in Iraq on Tuesday night, reports AFP, citing two anonymous security sources.
Two of the rockets were shot down and the third is said to have hit near a military facility. No one is reported to have been injured, according to one of the sources.
Since the war in Gaza broke out after Hamas' terrorist attack in October, similar attacks have occurred on several occasions. Iran-backed militia groups in Iraq have often taken responsibility for the attacks. The US has in turn responded with airstrikes against the militias on several occasions.
The US has around 2,500 soldiers in Iraq and 900 in Syria, as part of the international coalition that has been in place since 2014 to combat, among other things, the terrorist organization IS.
Washington and Baghdad announced on Friday that the international coalition will be dismantled within a year.
