At least 30 people have died and at least as many are missing after several days of heavy rainfall in a city in central China, according to state media.
The rains were triggered by the storm Gaemi, which moved on from the Philippines and Taiwan and hit China a week ago.
Over 11,000 residents have been evacuated from the city of Zixing since certain areas received record rainfall of 645 millimeters within 24 hours, writes the news agency New China (Xinhua).
Roads and communications have been periodically shut down due to the storm. By Thursday morning, most things were functioning again, according to CCTV.
In the province of Hunan, where Zixing is located, a total of nearly 50 fatalities have been reported so far in the wake of Gaemi.
