The accident occurred on Tuesday evening, local time, when about 20 people were travelling by small boat to a party in a small community in the northern state of Bihar, The Times of India reports.
The boat capsized. In addition to the 13 confirmed dead, at least three people are missing, while seven are being treated in hospital.
