Comedian Rasmus Wallbridge thought a dream had come true: he was going to make a film with a friend.
In fact, he was the main character in “Alle elsker Rasmus”. The entertainment program, produced by Drive Studios for TV 2, premiered on October 26 and was planned to run for six episodes.
But criticism soon followed. Politicians and people in the industry alike described it as “psychological terror” and “adult bullying”.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) said on Tuesday that she hoped it would prompt “reflection on morality and ethics” at a time when “traditional media is under great pressure”.
TV 2 initially defended the project. Five days after the premiere, however, program director Dorthe Thirstrup apologised, and the program was withdrawn.
A total of 149 people took part in staging the lie over four months.
