The attack targeted a supplier of cooling systems to the French blood donation service, the weekly newspaper Le Canard Enchaîné reports. The information has been confirmed by several French media outlets.
The temperature in a refrigerator used to store bags of donated blood was changed from minus 30 degrees to plus 110 degrees.
The attack was detected early and therefore had no impact on operations, according to a comment from the French Ministry of Health.
In mid-October, France was hit by a similar attack when hackers disabled refrigerated display cabinets in hundreds of grocery stores across the country by activating their defrost systems.
