Both are under 15 years old. If they had been over 15 years old, they would have been considered reasonably suspected of this, says senior prosecutor Tomas Olvmyr.
The underage boy who was first arrested was initially suspected of another crime. He was caught in a police control in Malmö.
We stumbled upon him in connection with other police work. He was suspected of another crime, but it quickly emerged that there was suspicion that he might have been involved in this murder. Why that is, I will not go into further, says the prosecutor.
Not criminally responsible
Now, another underage boy has been taken in for questioning. Since both boys are not criminally responsible, detention is not an option. The first arrested boy has been placed in a Sis-home, according to his legal representative, lawyer Johan Pieplow.
He has denied the crime, says the lawyer.
The man who was murdered in Skurup has a family connection to a 21-year-old man who is detained for attempted murder in Skurup on July 29.
"Investigating broadly"
When asked if it's about a suspected revenge murder, the prosecutor responds:
We are early in this investigation and we need to investigate broadly and without preconceptions, but naturally, it's the kind of connection we will investigate. We are examining if there is a link, says Tomas Olvmyr.
He does not want to comment on whether the police and prosecutor have suspicions against a specific person who might have ordered the murder.
Since we are early in this investigation, we naturally investigate if there might be more people involved.
Corrected: In an earlier version, the wrong date was given for the attempted murder in July.
