Venezuela announces that a fourth American citizen has been arrested, accused of planning a murder of President Nicolás Maduro.
Earlier, three American citizens, two Spaniards, and one Czech have been arrested for attempting to enter Venezuela to assassinate the President, according to Interior Minister Diasdado Cabello.
The Minister claims on state television that the American intelligence agency CIA is behind the assassination attempt.
The USA and Spain confirm the arrests but deny knowledge of the alleged coup plans.
The EU, USA, UN, and several of Venezuela's neighboring countries have questioned Maduro's claim to victory in the summer's presidential election due to the incomplete disclosure of election data.
