It is for IFK Umeå, where one of Pärson's children is an athlete, that the old multiple World Championship and Olympic Games medalist is participating voluntarily.
For their efforts, Svenska rallyt pays the association based on the number of hours the officials have put in.
That a skiing legend like Anja Pärson is involved shows the importance and significance of Swedish association life. Then I guess this can be one of her ways to give back. And it's naturally big of her, says Sören Emmervall, press officer Svenska rallyt.
Without the voluntary forces, it would not have been possible to arrange the competition in Umeå this weekend.
For us, all officials are important. They do a huge job. There are approximately 4,500 of them helping out during Rally Sweden. Everything from village associations to basketball associations and the entire association life around the Umeå region.
On Thursday, the first stage of the World Championship weekend, which runs until Sunday, will be completed.
