According to the authority, 992,863 voters have voted early in the first seven days.
"We are seeing a very large increase in early voting so far compared with the 2022 election. The figures for the first seven days show that the trend of more and more people voting early looks set to continue even in this year's election," says Anna Nyqvist, chief of staff at the Swedish Election Authority, in a press release.
The statistics are based on registrations in the digital voter register and are preliminary.
Early voting runs from Aug. 26 through election day, Sept. 13. A total of 3,153,628 people voted early in the 2022 election.
